Our Adoption Timeline

  • June 19, 2012 – First Phone Call to FHSA. Set up first meeting for July 10, 2012
  • July 13, 2012 – First meeting with FHSA. Meeting was moved from July 10.
  • July 15, 2012 – Told the Graham family we were adopting from Africa. (at beach house in Bradenton with Donna, Ben & Amanda, Heidi & Jeff, and Noelle)
  • July 20, 2012 – emailed Sharon to let her know we wanted to proceed with Ugandan adoption.
  • July 23, 2012 – Sharon responded to email saying she would get back with us when we she could take on our app. Gave us link to online Adoption classes.
  • August 16, 2012 – told Wilson family we were adopting from Africa (in NC at dinner with Mom, Dad, Ash & Chris, Em & Rob, Debbie, & Christa.)
  • September 2, 2012 – April emailed Sharon asking for update on families in UG and when we might be able to get started.
  • September 4, 2012 – Sharon responded with info on traveling families and said she didn’t know when we would be able to get started.
  • September 26, 2012 – Got a phone call from Sharon saying they were ready to take on our app!! Emailed paperwork for application, homestudy.
  • September 30, 2012 – Creative Team meeting for adoption
  • October 1, 2012 – First Homestudy visit with Sharon.
  • October 2, 2012 – Trip to Lakeland to get birth certificates.
  • October 3, 2012 – Fingerprint appt for Homestudy.
  • October 10, 2012 – Doctors appt for medical letter, 2nd Homestudy visit.
  • October 15, 2012 – Shot adoption video.
  • October 19, 2012 – Adoption photo shoot
  • October 22 & 25, 2012 – Luke TB test
  • November 4, 2012 – Launch ourstolove.com
  • November 5, 2012 – Meeting with Sharon to confirm/complete all paperwork.
  • November 7, 2012 – FedEx dossier to Uganda and USCIS to TX.
  • November 9, 2012 – Started application process for JSC Foundation grant.  
  • December 10, 2012 – Fingerprint appt at USCIS office in Tampa.
  • December 29,2012 – emailed completed application for Give1 Save1
  • January 3, 2013 – received email that we had been selected for Give1 Save1.
  • January 7-12, 2013 – Featured on Give1 Save1. Raised $5,087!
  • January 12, 2013 – Received USCIS approval
  • January 15, 2013 – Submitted essay to JSC Foundation completing our grant application.
  • January 21, 2013 – Emailed Embassy in Kampala regarding I600A approval.
  • January 25, 2013 – Received email back from Embassy in Kampala that they had received our approval.
  • February 11, 2013 – Received email from JSC Foundation saying we received $6000 grant. Fully funded!
  • February 28, 2013 – Received phone call from Sharon in Uganda. We missed the call 😦
  • March 1, 2013 – Got phone call from Sharon at 5:54am saying she had a 7month old baby boy for us. She sent us the first pictures of Mace Emmanuel Graham! Georgia Gamelin sent us 17 pics throughout the day. We told our families throughout the day, and coaches that night at a small group! Best day EVER!!
  • March 18, 2013 – Travel meeting with Sharon
  • March 19, 2013 – Mace moved from Ibanda baby home to Ms. Elizabeth’s foster home (Christine said he did great on the transfer and slept a lot and smiled a lot)
  • March 21, 2013 – Mace went to the doctor for his blood test and physical.
  • March 25, 2013 – Got “all clear” from Sharon on Mace’s medical report
  • March 26, 2013 – Told the world about Mace!
  • March 26-28 – Mae Mae at house making bedding
  • April 27, 2013 – Baby Shower
  • April 30, 2013 – Got call with court date of May 16th
  • May 1, 2013 – Booked flights
  • May 6, 2013 – Final travel meeting with Sharon
  • May 9, 2013 – Left Tampa for Uganda (Tampa to JFK, JFK to Amsterdam, Amsterdam to Entebbe)
  • May 11, 2013 – GOTCHA DAY!
  • May 16, 2013 – Court at 2pm in Kampala Uganda with Judge Mukibi.
  • May 23, 2013 – Received text from Monica around 4:30 saying we had our positive verbal ruling.
  • May 27-29 – Went on Safari at Queen Elizabeth National Park
  • May 29, 2013 – Visited Ibanda Babies Home
  • June 10, 2013 – Received written ruling
  • June 11, 2013 – Applied for Ugandan passport
  • June 18, 2013 – Picked up Uganda passport
  • June 19, 2013 – Went to US Embassy at 6:30am, got Visa appt for that afternoon. Went to Visa appt at 2:30pm
  • June 21, 2013 – Picked up Visa from US Embassy
  • June 22, 2013 – Left Entebbe, Uganda
  • June 23, 2013 – HOME!!
  • October 30, 2013 – Adoption Finalized (via conference call with Judge)
