Phase 2 of Our Baby’s room renovation took place over the last few days. After we returned from celebrating Christmas with Luke’s family and took all of our Christmas decorations down we got to work on Our Baby’s room!
I have always loved this week each year! Luke and I both work for a church and so life is “busy” to say the least. Every year our church offices are closed the week after Christmas and the entire staff is off. Luke and I have always used this week to get our life in order for the new year. Adjust our budget, clean out our closets/cabinets/drawers, lots of trips to Goodwill, cleaning the garage, and selling unused items on Ebay. It’s a fun week because I feel like we start the new year organized and ready for whatever God has for us!
This year was even more fun because in the midst of all the cleaning and organizing we also got to prep our house for the arrival of Our Baby! The next step in transforming Baby’s room was installing the closet system Luke’s mom got us for Christmas. Don’t you love how during a transformation things always get worse before they get better. Cue… this crazy cluttered room!
This guy is amazing! He has spent the last 3 days doing tons of little (and BIG!) projects! Here he is cutting, measuring, hammering and drilling, as he puts in the closet system. These systems are no joke! Luke and I are pretty smart people and this thing took some definite thought to put together!
And that’s not all he can do! He can also lift crazy heavy dressers pretty much by himself! We found a great dresser/changing table on Craigslist and took a little trip to St Pete to pick it up. Unfortunately, I wasn’t very much help when it came to unloading this ridiculously heavy dresser! Thankfully Luke is pretty much like MacGyver and made unloading and carrying in a dresser on his own seem like a breeze!
But it was all worth it in the end! Here is Our Baby’s room thus far! Complete with a special chalkboard sign from a very special photo shoot.
